climbanut Posted June 29, 2003 Posted June 29, 2003 Does anyone know what happens if you don't purchase a FS trailhead pass and you get ticketed and don't pay? Isn't it still "optional" to purchase/dispay as opposed to manadatory? I believe it states you need one for any recreational activities when parking at trailheads. I never recreate when out in the woods. I only go for "religious" reasons. Quote
Greg_W Posted June 29, 2003 Posted June 29, 2003 You can be ticketed for "failure to display a NW forest pass." Whether you get a $3 "non-compliance" (which you could probably blow off) of a $50 fine is, I believe at the officer's discretion. Following the letter of the law, if you avoid the $50 fine and fail to appear they can swear out a bench warrant on you. How this fucks with you I don't know. I do know they try to avoid doing that, but they DO have the ability to do it. If you have problems with the Fee Demo program, which many of us do, just don't park at the trailheads; park about a 1/4 mile away. Hope that helps. Greg_W Quote
