Adding aftermarket pinky rests to the original (old style) Black Diamond Cobras?

Has anyone successfully converted the original (old style) Black Diamond Cobras to leashless by adding aftermarket pinky rests / handrests? I'd like to do this by adding something like Petzl Trigrests or Salewa Handrests to mine, but not sure if it will work... Or if there is a better option...

You will have to add 2 rests to be viable. I tried a couple of different methods and they were bulky and cold to the touch.
My conclusion: there are amazing tools out there, If ice and mixed are going to be your sport perhaps you should invest in it?
