  1. Gee, this may come as a shock to you, but women tend to accumulate their own wealth from their own jobs as they age. Why this is not attractive to men is a mystery. I make more than most men I know, yet this is not considered an appealing characteristic. I could be wrong, but maybe, just maybe, it may be time for you old guys to drop the "poor me, I have to support this mall-bitch" line of thinking. Also time to forget about thinking your salary is going to make up for your undeveloped personality/sexuality/whatever. We Women can support ourselves financially. We don't need you to bring home the bacon.

Wake up and look around you--the world is changing.

actually i can think of conversations i've had with my male friends where a woman's wealth was considered making her more attractive as a partner. maybe we're just liberated men or something.

  2. as in Lake Erie?

    Interesting fact about Lake Erie:

It is one of the few lakes in the world tht is ON an island and also has an island in it. Island-within-an-island.

that island near anacortes is in lake campbell, not lake eerie, dumas.

  3. maybe it's like the silence that comes ove the table when the food is really good. maybe it's like nobody talking about the loose woman we all had. maybe it's further proof nobody posts on this board unless they're sitting at work pissed off they aren't outside.

  4. it is a bit of a specialty item even in southern germany where it originates. i think it is fairly difficult to make, and may have some shelf life issues as i vaguely recall. the proper way to serve it is in a tall, thin, tapering glass made specially for the purpose. anything out of a bottle is what guinness in a can is to the real thing. i remember it being really light and bubbly, like a champagne of beers.

given it's complexity i would guess brewers feel if you aren't going to make it right why make it at all, especially since not many people around here would know a good weissbeer from a 'pale' imitation. i don't think i've ever had a beer in the US quite like the pilsner you'll get at any roadside tavern in bavaria. i'm not saying local brews are bad, i love them, just different.

  5. I Goren sized Mt. Si yesterday from my place in the U district. So in the thread a while back discussing Goren Kropp's tragic death at Vantage Erden Eruc suggested the idea of "Goren sizing" various mountains by doing the entire approach by human powered means. (Goren had climbed Mt Everest by riding his bike with all his gear from his home in Sweden to the base of the climb.) Yesterday I left my apartment in the U district a little after 8 am. I rode north on the Burke-Gilman trail, started south on the Sammamish River trail before cutting east on the Tolt Pipeline trail, then connected with the Snoqualmie Valley trail in the vicinity of Duvall. The Snoqualmie Valley trail takes you past Carnation and ends near the town of Snoqualmie. I couple miles of pavement and you can pick up the Iron Horse trail which takes you most of the way to the Mt. Si trailhead, where I arrived at about 1:30. Up and down Si and then riding back the same way got me home at 11 pm.

Obviously a rather small beginning, but continueing up the Iron Horse trail would open up all kinds of possibilities in the I-90 alps, although pretty quickly an overnight trip would be required. The bike route is not the most direct, but has the decided advantage of being almost entirely on seperate bike trails and free from traffic. The Snoqualmie Valley trail is in particular quite pleasant as it takes you through farm land and over old tressle bridges.
