  1. Rainier’s season has been getting shorter due to glacial wasting and recession. I personally would not attempt the standard routes on Rainier past June; even earlier for many other routes. This season is likely to be particularly short due to the snow drought in the western U.S. Also, I would skip St Helens.
  2. That was me. Cascade Climbers is a great regional resource while MP has a national or even a global reach. Just trying to be helpful.
  3. Retail price for a similar FF bag is $1,200 and FF bags hold their value. People are gearing up for Denali now, that would be your target market. The right person would be happy to pay $600 for this bag.
  4. That’s a good price and I think those C3s are desirable. You might consider posting on Mountain Project if you don’t get any action here.
  5. Word on the street is the Black Spuder on Hood is in good nick.
  6. That’s because Rainier is pretty easy.
  7. Looks like a weather window is forecast for Hood after many storm cycles. Any predictions for how quickly the conditions will stabilize enough to climb a steep route?
  8. January is a terrible month to attempt Rainier. One of the worst. February or March are a better bet. Also, unless you fancy an extra 25 mile approach/deproach, cross Emmons off your list and stick to routes out of Paradise.
  9. I heard this story first hand from Twight about 30 years ago. Pretty incredible.
  10. I like Greenwoods. They fit my Scarpa Maestrale and did a nice job.
  11. Not what I wanted to hear, but thanks for the update.

  13. Hey gang, The various selected guidebooks that are available have been a boon for climbers. They not only identify high quality routes, but the detailed beta makes climbing them easier. I have climbed a number of routes over the years that I felt deserved 'selected' status. I think my top candidate would be Ice Cliff Arete on Mt Stuart. Does anybody have routes they would add to a selected guide?
