  1. WADDINGTON RANGE TRIP - July 2018: 2 more people needed for helicopter. Hello, My fiancée and I are planning a trip to the Waddington Range sometime in July. We're looking for 2 more people to fill up the helicopter. Our plan would be to fly into Plummer Hut or Dragonback Camp and spend 2 weeks in the range. This allows for weather windows, rest days, etc. Helicopter flight is approx. $1000 / person (obviously expensive but it's worth it). I've been in to the range once before. For those who aren't familiar with this world class alpine area, check out the guidebook: http://www.highcol.ca/downloads/preview-waddington-guide.pdf If you or any other climbers you know would be interested in going, email me at mike.gudaitis(at)gmail.com me or give me a call at 6(zero)4-616-4758. Cheers, Mike Gudaitis

  6. Hi, I know it's getting down to the wire, but we're trying to fill our helicopter to get into the Waddington Range in July. We're a party of two so we have available either: - 2 seats for independent party of two; or - 1 seat for competent third team member Dates: July 10th to 23rd (whatever weather window looks best during this time, we are flexible w/ when to fly in and for how long. Ideally for week and a half-ish minimum?) Our possible objectives (for third teammate): - Bravo Glacier Route on Waddington if in safe, non-horrifically post-holey condition - Skywalk on Combatant - South Ridge of Serra Two Having said above, we're both pretty open to ideas and want to go into the range to have a safe, fun time. We'll decide as a group what objectives look to be our best options when we're in there, based on conditions. Our plan is to fly in to Rainy Knob as this gives us the best flexibility. We're both based in Squamish, and can provide transport from Squamish to Bluff Lake. Contact: Email: mike.gudaitis(at)gmail.com Phone: 604 - 616 - 4758 Cheers, Mike G
  7. For those in Canada - Taiga made a pretty similar bag to the Vireo: https://www.taigaworks.ca/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=129 Same idea - it's a half bag that comes up to my chest (I'm 5'9). Looks a bit less refined than the Vireo, but it was also half the price...If they're not making them anymore, shoot them an email - it'd be nice to see them keep it in their product line.
  8. If you haven't sold it yet, I'm looking to buy and am also located in Squamish. -Mike
  9. Hey, I'm looking for a partner for ice climbing Monday February 2nd to Friday February 6th. I work both weekends but have the weekdays off. I'm hoping Lillooet / Marble Canyon will be in enough to just drive up there, but if not I would be willing to drive to Field / Rockies if you can commit to at least 4 days. I lead WI 4-, follow 5, have rope and rack. Live in Squamish. Give me a shout at mike.gudaitis(at)gmail.com. Cheers, Mike
  10. For anybody else doing Slesse this season - I left a locking carabiner on the first rap off the summit - there is now that locker, a non-locker and a quicklink that is full of old crappy webbing. Too much stuff. Could someone either: grab the non-locker and move it down to one of the lower raps that only has one non-locker, cut some of that webbing off so quicklink is usable, or booty my locker (I bootied it myself so do not care). I would've cleaned some of the webbing off but was dehydrated/dumb and trying to be quick as possible.
  11. Those are Petzl Aztars - I have the exact same setup w/o all the weird homemade trigger things on them. They are great for alpine ice as they're quite a bit lighter than other tools and you can still plunge the spike when you need to (ie. when the slope is steep enough to need it). My setup is these plus a hiking pole for low angle glacier treks instead of a mountaineering axe. I just did Baker N Ridge this weekend with them - they were great for that. I agree with above poster, having one hammer, one adze is ideal (digging T Slots w/ your hammer sucks). If you ever see a pair of adzes, PM me, we could split 'em...
