  1. Oh, thats great! I'm glad you got to use it. The space was a little cozy for 4, but we were happy and warm. I think we started digging around 1pm and finished just before 4.
  2. After the wind destroyed our tent, we were forced to dig in at illumination saddle. It's a nice cave. I hope some other folks can get use out of it.
  3. Trip: 2011 - A Year Of Climbing - [Video Montage] - Various Date: 11/18/2011 Trip Report: I thought it would be fun to make a short video to recap a lot of fun climbs with good friends. For those that aren't into videos, sorry. [video:youtube]
  4. It's really hard to judge what the snow will be like next weekend. I wouldn't be surprised if the upper gully is still filled with hard icy snow. You might have to end on the SE rib like we did. If you have novices with you, I would suggest bringing some cams and several very long slings. We rappelled of the old slings in place but I wouldn't really suggest it. Good Luck! Also, a 60 meter rope is probably ideal. Our 30 was a bit short.
  5. Trip: Mount Shuksan - Sulfide Glacier - Day Hike Date: 7/23/2011 Trip Report: [video:youtube]aBMDIjzcz48 Matt Colleen and I climbed Shuksan on Saturday starting at 1:35 am. We traversed along the west side of the glacier to avoid the necessity of roping up. At 8:00 am we found that the upper half of the scramble on the pyramid was too icy to ascend without ice tools so we followed the southeast rib the rest of the way to the summit. Our round trip-time was just under 16 hours. If you want details go here.
  6. We used three cams and one small nut.
  7. That's correct. I've been thinking about joining CC for a few years now. Today I finally did it so I thought I would start with a few old TR's and some new ones too.
  8. Trip: Mount Olympus (highpoint of Greece) - traverse from Skala Date: 7/13/2011 Trip Report: I thought it would be cool to climb the "mountain of the gods", so I did. Sorry, I know links to other sites are lame, but whatever, read the story here.
  9. Trip: Eldorado - day hike - Standard Date: 3/5/2011 Trip Report: It's a long day with snowshoes but well worth the effort. In most cases, the knife-edge is wider during the winter. I know links to other sites suck, but here is the full story.
  10. Trip: Pico de Orizaba - Standard Date: 11/16/2009 Trip Report: Orizaba (18,490 feet) is a fun easy climb. I'll probably go back some day to get the other high peaks in the area. Here is the full story for those that are detail oriented.
  11. Trip: Angel's Landing - w/ snow - Trail Date: 2/21/2011 Trip Report: Angels landing has a lot of exposure and the snow added an element of excitment. More photos, video, and details for those that are interested.
  12. Trip: Ojos del Salado (world's highest volcano) - Chile Approach Date: 1/1/2011 Trip Report: [video:youtube]3iseo8Rv-7A 22,608 feet. Very cold and windy. I inhaled tons of silica dust. Read the full story if you want.
  13. Trip: Colchuck, Dragontail, Little Anna, Enchantment - Traverse Date: 6/6/2011 Trip Report: [video:youtube]QNXS3xXpl-s ~25 miles and 10,000+ gain. You can see in the pics and video how gnarly the snow below Pandora's Box was.
  14. Trip: Mount Olympus - Blue Glacier / North Ridge Date: 7/4/2011 Trip Report: [video:vimeo]26183525 The rangers informed us that we were only the second group to make the summit this year. We climbed the "4th of July" route on the fifth of July. Ha!
