  1. Really? I always heard that even when in good condition it was hard to protect. There was one guidebook entry i read that went so far as to call it a "suicide" route. I guess it all depends on the conditions.
  2. Oohhh Yeah.... Real prime indeed. Why is it that the only time I feel like climbing Yocum is when I've been drinking? Probably the only time I have the balls. Thanks for the pic. Makes me want to slog up right now and check it out.
  3. I've never crossed over onto the Reid this late in the season. Was the drop down steep? Seems like it would be without any snow on it.
  4. Thnks-all the replies were helpful. I had a feeling that Ouray would be more stnding around than climbing, which seems like a sacrifice of my precious vacation time. Is there anywhere to camp at Bozeman for the Ice Fest? Is that a dumb idea("you'll freeze your junk off, kid")?
  5. Anyone already have plans to get down to Ouray '09? I was thinking about going solo, but would rather slpit gas with someone. It'd also be nice to climb with someone I already new/ had cragged with before. Thought about flying, but figured airfare+rental car would end up being more than gas (depending on vehicle). Anyone with experience on that? Are things close enough that you get away without a car? -Tyson

  7. 28yo, PDX native looking for PDX area(or southern WA)climbing partner(s) for 4th/5th class scrambling adventures, alpinism, trad, multi-pitch, winter climbs? Backcountry ski/snowboarding? Ice climbing? I have a newer rack that needs to see some more use, and am willing to work hard/drive/buy beers in exchange for the wisdom of a more experienced climber. Can lead 5.8 trad and follow higher. I'm willing to travel further north if need be. Good safety ethic a must(death is lame!). I get odd days off sometimes, and have a flexible schedule. Just need to climb! -Tyson 503-290-4784
