  1. I had such a great experience this year, that I am planning another one for next year, to include:

    1. Joshua Tree.

(Possibly Yosemite too if they're both close and en-route).

    2. Smith Rock (again as I loved it last time and there's a climb I intended to do but didn't get round to doing, hence I have to go back).

    3. Utah - Indian Creek.

Traveling from and to North Vancouver.

I am looking for climbing partners too, to either join me - car pool option, or hook up for some climbing in any of the areas above, so pm if interested. I've a good climbing contact in Smith from the last time.

I won't climb with you unless you've completed the required climbing courses, lead course etc, and are a well experienced climber, who has climbed ongoing for at least several years. Just my rule of thumb, and as my friends I climb with are mostly on that level, that keeps me safe and you safe too. Aside from the courses I completed, I've learned alot from them too. Unfortunately they don't all get time off like I do, or as easily.

    Thanks :)

  2. Nice pics. Good job it wasn't the middle finger you're sticking up there 'Matt' ;)

Personally, I'd prefer to second up that rock face, or else I may pass out - just a feeling I'd get due to the height and exposure; I'd be okay seconding though, except I can't climb 5.11 yet (or ever), 5.10's are my limit for seconding right now.

  3. I know this is probably too late now, but for future reference, and to anyone else, I have a friend down there who I climbed with, who lives there in Bend and is always looking for people to climb with, he was happy for me to pass his details on, so go ahead and contact him anytime you wish to climb at Smith Rock.

He's a great climber, and does both aid and trad, and I had 2 full days of solid climbs with him, he lead the 5.9's and 5.10's and I did some I was happy to lead. He'll likely do the easier pitches of monkey face with you, one pitch is an aid pitch, as that is what we intended to do and had prepared for it the day before, but the weather dictated when I was there, unfortunately.

    Contact Steve on:

    541-330-1779

You can also find him at rockclimbing.com 'steveox'

    Good luck!

  4. Wasn't me that gave you that idea now was it?

I'd put a thread out elsewhere related to the same kind of thing, quitting job, big break and climbing, work in a different job after that.. :)

    I've done Smith' it's fantastic.

  5. Any idea where I can find 'natural' not man-made crap, 'single track', and I love technical single track xc (cross country) mountain bike rides.

The same as 'Wales', U.K, type of tracks is what I mean, and what I most want again; and I don't mind driving as far as Seattle if need be, intermittently for it, if that is where it is mostly at.

    Thanks :)
