Yes, he ran the Alpine Hut in Seattle. There were 5 or 6 stores at one time. In about '68, Mountain Products Corporation was split off as the manufacturing arm. He moved that operation to Wenatchee, where he ran it until about '73 or so.

Thanks for remembering, guys. Dick McGowan was my father, and of course my climbing coach. When I have an obituary, hopefully soonish, I'll post it here. I'm currently planning to be at the upcoming AAC shindig in Bend, Oregon, so maybe I'll see some folks there to drink a toast.
