the route is still out of marble mountain sno-park as of last weekend. it's very easy to follow. Pictures: Mt St Helens - July 12, 2008 the permit system sucks. they definitely need to look into making some changes - at the very least save some permits for climbers that come thru day of looking for one. not to mention some people try selling these fucking things on craigslist for a profit... i ended up doing it without one and didn't have any problems. if you tread lightly and don't leave any of your shit behind i don't see why not. there wasn't even close to 100 people up there when i was there and it was a saturday.

any permits for saturday, july 12th available?

anyone have a couple helens permits for this weekend (12th or 13th) they aren't going to use? trying to get the girlfriend out and a buddy back into it. thanks for the help! on a similar note, does anyone know what the penalty is for climbing without a permit?

Has anyone tried crossing the creek in the last week or so? AAI's blog has a pic of a log crossing but I was curious if anyone had any other recent info to share. If not, how about the Director's Cut alternative? Any recent info would be appreciated here as well. Thanks!

Looking to get on board with an experienced group that is planning a Rainier trip. I've got the gear, fitness level, etc...just looking to get some more exposure with veteran climbers. Very flexible on dates. I've already put time in on Baker and Adams (x2) this Spring/Summer and would love to spend some time on Rainier as well. I have one other buddy with the same level of experience if there is room for two. Looking forward to the opportunity!
