  1. Does anyone know anything about who owned cascade cobblers? I sent two pairs of shoes in there a few weeks ago. I had my parents stop by there and see if they were done yet and the guy said they would be in a couple days. Then today I went by there and they are closed and the place is for rent. I never got the shoes back, nor did I get charged, thankfully. But I would like to know know how to get a hold of the people so I can get the shoes back.

Anyone have any leads? Or experienced similar?

  2. Hello!

A friend recommended CC, glad to find it! I have a crew of three fit, fun-loving (serious when we need to be), early-40s men looking for an experienced leader for August climb up Rainier. We all have 14er experience and one of the guys successfully summited Rainier ten years ago. We work well together but definitely need an ice/glacier expert in our group. Some flex on exact dates. Email me jakeblakefield@yahoo.com if interested or have contacts. Thank you in advance!

So in other words you and your buddies are looking for a guide that will work for free?

How about either not climbing the mountain until you got the skills or actually paying for a guide to drag your sorry ass up there?

    KirkW,

Not everyone has glaciated peaks out their back door. I could totally see where these folks are coming from. They could be totally capable and have climbed lots of peaks potentially but maybe not much glacier experience, they are not that common in the lower 48 these days. Doesn't seem very welcoming to be a complete ass to someone who is posting on here for the first time, lay off, they didn't need your two cents. Guides are expensive. Playing in the mountains is amazing and not everyone has $1000-$1500 to throw down to have an experience in the mountains. Who knows maybe there is someone out there whose would love to go with these guys. That's my two cents KirkW.

  3. So I was climbing at Vantage last weekend and discovered that they had removed the porta potties that used to be in the parking lot. Does anyone know anything about why the toilets are gone? I know that the area is managed by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. There are a lot of people who don't pay for to permit to use the area so I can understand that they don't have the funds to pay for a porta potty. It seems to me that not having a toilet in such a high use area is a huge issue that should be solved quickly. Any thoughts?

  4. On the way back to car I may have misplaced my sleeping bag. It is a Mountain Hardwear synthetic bag. It was a rental bag from the Outdoor Center at Western Washington University. It would most likely be found along the trail down towards the parking lot. If found please contact me at mtnmitch@hotmail.com or 816-797-0293

    Thanks, Mitchell

  5. I lost my volkl gotama 07/08 on mt st helens this weekend.

If you find it i would love to reward you someway.

I was going pretty fast and my binding completely ripped off of my ski, and the ski then didnt have any breaks and went for one hell of a ride. We looked around a little bit for it, but had other obligations to get down. I really want to go back and look around but I dont know if i have time because i live in bellingham.

The accident happened almost at the top of the mountain and went hurling skiers right... or southwest down the mountain. It took one of the gullies just more on lookers left side of the mountain.

i need the ski for warranty issues, the binding is still intact, it completely ripped out of its four screws in the front. the binding was still attached to me boot after i took a good fall.

  6. I have a pair of La Sportiva Nepals I am trying to sell. They are size 13, the footbed is a little narrow so if you have narrow feet they might work. I am in Bellingham, if would like to try them on let me know. I am selling them for $140, that is flexible though.

  7. I have been shrinking and need to sell some of the stuff that no longer fits. These are all in great shape. The boots have only been worn a handful of times. They are available for pickup in Bellingham or I can ship if I need to at extra cost. Here are the pictures: http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/plab/showphoto.php?photo=27520

  8. I also recently moved to Bellingham. I don't have a whole lot of experience with climbing. I had a two week rock climbing section during my NOLS course I did last fall but that is about all the climbing I have done. I would like to get into mountaineering. I have most of the basic equipment but I just need someone who I can climb with so I can learn. I have been on Mt Baker with my dad but we just got up on the Coleman Glacier and camped and then just kind of messed around up there.
