  1. update from 5/16: the chockstone at the bottom is passable. The left side is thin, hollow with good sized moat forming beneath. The right is icy and hollow. It is getting icy in the pinch/steep area in the middle. Snow/ice all gone in the upper area above the pinch (top 1/3). We never took the second axe/tool off the packs. Party induced rockfall is now an issue. Looks like the season is over on this route.
  2. look at "29 pines" -- free, ~15 miles short of the TH (right at the end of the paved road).
  3. Found a pair of prescription glasses, just peeking out of the surface of the snow in the alpental backcountry on Saturday afternoon the 22nd (around 5). With the new snow, I guess they were dropped some time during the day. I don't know the formal landmarks well enough to name the spot, but it was about 3/4 of a mile from the upper parking lot, on the return collector tracks, west side of the valley. The glasses are frameless with spring-steel arms (no hinges). Email at mike.daly.wac -- hotmail.com. Usual ransom rates apply.

  7. sold. I know where there is a second one that should go cheap as well....
  8. this one is gone, but I know where there is a second one that can go at a good price :-)
  9. Due to injury cancelation, I have one unused (blank) Mt. Rainier climbing permit for 2006 for sale. Make me an offer. Preferred pickup/delivery in Bellevue area (or on an appropriate crag), but I'm flexible. Act now before the snow bridges are gone!
