  1. A friend wants your Mavens. He tried contacting you on TGR, sent you a PM and replied to your post. He tried contacting you here too but is having trouble logging in to CC.com. Let me know how you want to contact him and I will relay the message.

    Sweet skis BTW! :-)

Aside from two upcoming trips to Red Rocks, I don't plan on climbing on real rock much over the winter. Sigh. So I'm looking to expand the number of my indoor climbing partners.

I climb at the Ballard Vertical World, which, hopefully, will be moving over to the new, expanded location sometime soon. (Did I mention that I'm looking forward to the new gym?) I can climb most evenings after 7 p.m..

I'm happy to climb with folks of any level, provided you're safe (meaning that you don't tie in with an overhand knot, belay off of the belt loops on your jeans, etc.). I've been climbing for about four years. For the record, right now, I'm climbing in the 5.10s on TR. I climb a little lower on lead.

    Thanks!

  3. shit, just realized that the 7th is Labor Day, I already have plans for Labor Day weekend and wont be able to make it.

if anything changes I will let you know but it looks like I'm out.

good luck finding a partner, should be pretty easy once you are in the Valley. just go to the bullitin board in Camp 4 and leave a post and check others. someone is always looking for a partner.

  4. like some aspects of climbing, even if its not all that fun you still have to do it at least once.

15 hrs is a LOT of opera! my daughter did commit to the first show, Das Rheingold, so now I just need to find someone who is interested in the second, Die Walkure, so I can at least see the whole thing once.

I'll drop Minx a line. anyone seen her lately? is she still posting on here?

  5. good times! I also did a 3-week climbing trip thru France a few years ago. I still have several guide books and this cool map of France that shows the size and location of climbing areas all over the country. you are welcome to borrow it all, if you do please treat the material well and return it at the end of your trip.

I would second some of the recommendations here: climbing in Les Calanques and Orpiere, visiting Cassis and Chamonix. as was said before dont plan on climbing in Cham that time of year, like here, the weather can be a mixed bag in the mountains. plan on hitting the places that will most likely have good weather and then once you get there modify your plans to go where the weather is good. like HC said you can travel anywhere in a day so just be flexible.

if you have any interest in alpine climbing history you should at least visit Cham even if you dont climb there. and as it is full of Brits and just about every other nationality you can easily get by speaking English so it doesnt sound like what you are looking for in a climbing destination anyway. but visit for a day and eat great fondue!

if you are still looking for reco's I can give you more for other areas. not sure what you are looking for in your climbing, we were looking for lots of sport climbing 5.10 and under on that trip. I've been there on other trips for alpine climbing, Haute Route, etc. so we can talk about that too if you are interested.

hope some of this long babel helps,

    cheers!

  6. I have tickets for the whole Ring cycle but it turns put my date had to cancel on the first two shows, Das Rheingold and Die Walkure. I am contemplating two things, just selling the one extra ticket to each show so I can still go or selling both pairs. the tickets are expensive, $120 each at face value! other ideas? any takers with offers?

Das Rheingold is Tue, Aug 25th, starts at 7:00, 2 1/2 hrs long

Die Walkure is Wed, Aug 26th, starts at 6:00, 4 1/2 hrs long(!)

drop me a line if you are interested,

    Brian :-)

  7. I am planning on volunteering but I am looking for a ride down from Seattle. I wouldnt mind getting down there a day or two in advance for some climbing. I already have a climbing partner and a ride back. leaving sometime around the 7th would be great but I am flexible in that department. will help with gas of course!

  8. count me in! although I could use a ride back to Seattle.

I have a ride up to the pass on Friday but could use a ride down to the camping and back to Seattle on Sunday.

on Friday we are doing the Birthday Tour if anyone wants to join us. my partner has to return to Seattle that night, working the weekend shift, so I am looking for a ride the rest of the weekend. will help pay for gas of course!

also, by Sunday the weather is forecasted to be rain likely up at the pass, snow above 6100', so if anyone is interested in rock climbing down in Mazama, if its dry enough, I would be interested in a climbing partner.

  9. is anyone else going down for this event? if so could I get a ride down with you?! I have a ride back already. not really looking for a climbing partner, just a ride down. will share the cost of gas and I am flexible with departure times, I could leave anytime between the 6th and the 8th.

    thanks,

    Brian :-)
