I realize this is too late for your use, but for what it is worth, check out http://equipped.com/ . Doug Ritter has done some tests on the Spot. It is a different beast, but check out the McMurdo FastFind PLB. I've got one and is is TINY compared to any of the other PLBs i've seen.
