  1. We left a rope on the first pitch of Dreamer on Green Giant Buttress on Saturday - when pulling the ropes from the last rappel, it got caught on a flake. Given that it was close to dark, and raining, going up and getting it was not really an option. $100 if you come across it. It's easily visible and one end is lying on the platform where the first pitch starts. It's draped over a flake 20-30m from the start. The rope is a gray/purple Beal Ice Line 8.1mm (very light!). I live in Seattle but I'll pick it up wherever you are. Yes, it was an epic. Getting lost in that forest, in the dark, is no joke. Let me know if you find it. Thanks! lucky.goldstar@pobox.com
  2. I've used the Montrail D7 approach shoes for the last 2+ years and they have performed exceptionally well. Stiff soles, good grip, and light weight. Pretty good on rock (have comfortably done 5.10+), but can't comment for trail running since I've only hiked in them. If I ever need to replace them I'll buy the exact same pair.
  3. I visited Fee Demo Wall a few weeks ago and had a great experience. Found the 5.9 to be as reported above; also did Sub Aqueous which felt much harder than 10b (like 10d?). Gear notes on the topo are exactly right. All in all, a fantastic area. Could use a little brushing in some areas and I'll bring one on my return. The Million Dollar Footbridge (the actual footbridge) is impressive and beautiful.
  4. Agree w/what's been said to here... Remember to bring a small piece of carpet/cloth with you to wipe your shoes before stepping on the rock - the sandstone boulders do degrade over time, and you'll encounter some routes that are quite polished because many people don't do this. Obviously a crashpad is helpful but if you're just visiting that's hard to sort out. I found that there are lots of circuits with soft sand landings, especially in the Trois Pignons area. Circuit difficulty in increasing level of difficulty: Yellow - Orange - Blue - Red - Black/White Not sure what level you climb at, but if you let me know, I'll happily send over some of my favorite problems. If you do get use of a car, drop by the Elephant site near the town of Larchant - this has a huge variety of problems and is one of my favorite areas. Other great areas: Bas Cuvier (w/Marie Rose, the first 6a) Franchard Isatis & Franchard Cuisiniere Trois Pignons (areas 91.1 and 95.2) Good luck! If you need more info feel free to PM.
  5. I haven't confirmed my partner for Sunday - if you're game or need a fourth, send a PM. I have car, gear, etc.
  6. I've been meaning to get out there for a while (got rained out on previous attempts) and am planning to go on Sunday. Will likely have a partner but always up to see others there.
  7. Looking to get outside Monday 30 May - prefer cragging (x 32/38) or mild multipitch (darrington?) any grade up to 5.10/11, sport; trad if levels are tuned down a bit. I have gear. Will consider any suggestions as I'm new to the area; PM if interested.
