  1. snoboy - Wish I would have just taken your word for it: pullies close to the hauler(s); biners close to the "victim." The Newbie thread you referenced gave me a migraine. But I was finally satisfied when I followed the link you posted that showed "delrio's" graphic and calculations. Good stuff, thanks.
  2. Thanks all. Definitely ruling out the Petzl Ultralegeres. I'm looking, right now, at pile of Denali gear thats bigger than my couch. For my knees sake, I gotta draw the line somewhere. Think I'll just do the C half of the Z+C setup running thru biners. Seems the bigger issue for a 2-man team is actually getting an anchor set up in the first place so the rescuer can get to work.
  3. Anybody have any experience with the Petzle Ultralegere? Two of us are doing Denali's W Butt and have realized that we may want carry more than two pulleys (each!). A friend suggested that these almost-pulleys might be a good choice for the "C" half of a Z+C. Any advice?
  4. Yeah, seems like most sources are really keen on moldable Intuition liners. I hate to buy new liners when the ones in my old Invernos seem fine. Anybody have a strong opinion about it. what about just bringin' a few toe warmers? I've got 40below overboots.
  5. Wow! Thanks everybody! This BB is the balls.
  6. Looking for advice for our somewhat ignorant two-man team. We're trying the West Butt in June and could use some guidance. Does anybody have any opinions about the following? TENT: If I buy a new tent (I think my old Wild Cntry tent is too sketchy) should I look at a three-man rather than a two, for comfort? I saw the Mtn Hrdware Trango (2 and 3) on sale and am tempted. Any other favorites for a trip like McKinley? STOVE(S): I've got my old MSR whisperlite stove and am wondering if we should get a second (redundant) one or if the benefit of a higher-end XGK would be worth the $. SHOVELS: We each have regular BD climbers' shovels and are having trouble imagining bringing the steel, wood-handled jobbers recommended in some guide books. Any insights about these or anything else is appreciated!
  7. Looking for partner(s) for June/July. Probably the West Buttress. Give me a call and we'll chat about experience, training-trips, etc. If you come with a lot of experience and have a somewhat bigger plan we could talk about it (this'll be my first expedition). Gordon 206.850.8789
  8. We were the party that hiked the chute with you guys on our way to Fuhrer Finger. We punted too after that wind early Sunday. We were a bit surprised by the continuing wet slides Sunday afternoon - we expected more consolidation after the hot week.
