  1. anyone have an update on the new rules. how was the enforcement for the 08 season? hope to make it down there this summer 09. thanx, JCS
  2. spotter, thanks for the info. it's pointed me in the right direction in becoming more familiar with the NW ranges. Waddington appears to be a fine destination for future trips with more time. however, i only have 4 days to 'bang out' any one of the recommended 'classics'. if flying into the Seattle area, what 5 routes make your top 5? Hopefully in the D+ - td range? if anyone else would like to include their 'top 5' mixed routes, please do so. thanks again, JCS
  3. thanks Dan. i'll attempt to locate these guides. anyone else is welcome to post if they like. mixed routes included.
  4. OK...how about i ask it a different way.... could any one recommend routes with similar (or more) difficulty as Liberty Ridge in the cascade range? tell of your favs. links. thanks again, JCS
  5. went climbing south of the equator for a good season. upon my return, i've realized that i've become spoiled with the type of routes available in the lower 48. and because of time constraints and location, i'm looking for recommended routes in the NW within a days drive of Seattle. looking for anything in the french grade D+ - TD. I know this is largly an unknown rating system in North America (and may not apply), but it's the only rating system i've become extensivly familiar. any ideas? I've done LR and it kicked my arse, but I felt it wasn't technical enough. then again, conditions were more than perfect at the time. perhaps i need to repeat. Mowich looks like a 60 deg. slog. Am I wrong? Others? thanks, JCS
  6. I've called the rangers. My partner has called the rangers. And each call's answer was different. I was told self registering from the white info center ends on Saturday the 28th of May. While my partner was told that we would need to register with the rangers in person. We plan to show up late on a Weds night. Either sleep in the car or attempt to head up glacier basin trail in the dark after self registering. opinions? let 'em rip! JCS
  7. how does one self-register half way across the country? is there a form on the link provided? did i miss it? or can this step/process only be done in person during late May? i don't need to reserve any camp site, but i do need to register for a late May attempt at climbing the peak. thanks again, JCS
  8. anyone, i'm struggling to find info on what time the white river center opens up for climbers to register during mid to late May. how early/late are they open? is there a way to obtain the register forms necessary before arrival? i'd like to automate this process as much as possible. any info would be much appreciated. JCS
  9. Stu..Andrei, thanks for the info...much appreciated. I may have a chance to acquire one of the two warmer down bags offered at a very decent price. i need this bag for a trip to Peru. i sleep cold hence the reason for such a warm bag. of the EU made bags...which do either of you consider to be on the higher quality end? Valandre? All this in comparison to the US makers like FF or WM. be safe, JCS
  10. Anyone have any information concerning the quality of sleeping bags made by:: ajungilak Experiences? Warmth? thnx, JCS
