  1. Who cares if you a break a pick? Check out the ratings that Quantum is only B rated. Anyone want to start carrying an extra shaft in case you break that and not your pick...
  2. Get up there early, the recent warm spell has made some stuff on the left (north??) side of the canyon get pretty soft by 2:00pm. Otherwise its still good.
  3. http://www.smarter.com/product/1943202-O...pus_d_580_exact I love mine.
  4. Use two colors, I nail polished my stuff orange and within a couple months noticed another fifteen people who had. But I say use the colored electric tape my partners been using it for years and he has yet to have a issues with it. Also you can use it to mark slings, daisychains etc.
  5. WD40 after each climb, also depending on what your doing a sharpening job on your axes is probably a good idea. If you ever ski raced think about it as a wax job. Its certainly more than required but it keeps the rust off, is a good way to relax post climbing, and just keeps you in touch with what your equipment is looking like. But a quick rub down with Montana cologne will take off whatever spots you got.
  6. Thanks Dru, the Newbies forum is greatly benefited by your wise thought and answers to our questions.
  7. A first season climber here in Bozeman. I assume the Ice Guide in question is "Winter Dance" by Josephson. I've found that guide to be essential to any weekend in Hyalite. An awesome all around book.
  8. Howdy, I just bought my first pair of tools this season, an old pair of bent Pulsars for 100$. I was wondering if anyone knew if you could horns or fangs onto the pommels for hand support, even though these axes are so old?
