  1. Sorry abalch, but you misunderstood me. What I meant by half clipping is when your in a bad fall situation on a sport route you can take one of the strands still clipped as twins and clip it onto the next bolt, that way only one strand is being slacked out therefore shortening the fall in the case of a misclip. Once your set at your stance you still need to clip the short line in an continue clipping as a twin. It's an early 90's thing. Thats one of the two only good things about twins, the other is you a full length abseil with a setup that only weighs a little more than a single line.
  2. I have a Nallo 3 Gt, and it pitches tighter than my moms drumset, and it's lasted longer than any other tent I own. The only issue with it is finding space to pitch it in the mountains, all of the GTs are long and at times hard to position. I would suggest getting the normal nallo and just taking a sill tarp or something for the extra vestibule. That way you don't have has much fabric whippin around if the gish really hits the fan. Don't bother with the warmlite, I've seen them blow up where other tents barely even flinched.
  3. one problem with rings is the cursing it causes when your trying to rig them with be-gloved frozen fingers. I would consider putting some reinforced hapalon strips, or some such other on the bottom and up into the lower lumbar, it will extend the life of the bottom and keep it from creeping down your back as fast. Two long comp straps on the back aligned on the thirds lines are really handy for attaching different tools and for compressing the pack when it is underloaded.
  4. You have a lot more fitting options with a plastic: custom liners, heat manipulation, room for decent foot beds. Alphas can get to be pretty light to. Best climbing boot I've used is the scarpa F1 though, it's light, flexy, sensitive, and ski worthy all in the same go. Check it out and don't call me crazy till you try it.
  5. twins were designed for half clipping on hard sport routes, when both clipped in they have pretty high impact forces, depending on who your chekin'. Half ropes have everything you need: low impact force, half the wet weight in your pack, and a great tag line when it gets sketchy.
  6. I stand humbled before your magnificent act of alturism. Have a nice day.
