I am looking for beta on the route to the south wilmans spire from the Monte Cristo townsite. I have followed the ridge straight up from town to the base of the cliffs mentioned in the cag. Beckey says to look for a break in the cliff band to access the upper slope. I have gone to the left and did not see any good route, I then went over to the "Count" to check out the variation mentioned in the book that was not verified. Has any one tried this route or any others to gaine the upper slope?

Thanks for the information. My brother and I have been to several "Grizz" public relocation meetings in the past. This was not a sighting from what I was told but rather a confirmed identification from a print casting.

My brother has told me that a ranger from the Glacier ranger station said that a casting of a bear footprint was made up on copper ridge last year. The ranger told him that it has been identified as a grizzly print. Anyone else know anything about this?

I've seen where you can add discriptions into your photo's with the use of the keyboard.I can't find where this was on cascade climbers. I believe that you use the / key and some other ones as well to do this. Anyone out there know how this done? Thanks.

Anyone been up recently? Wondering if I should bring crampons and axe. Saw gully last Sept. and it was the first time I had seen it with all the snow gone. Plan on going over to Wilmans peak. Looking for any beta on route to peak after going past E. Wilmans spire.

We are going to go accross the n.cascades west to east via hannegan pass. anyone been thru recently? The back country ranger at marblemount is'nt sure if any trail work between hannegan and Whatcom pass will get done this summer, said some parties have gone thru some have turned back at brush creek due to flood damage. Would like to go over Whatcom peak to challenger. anyone tried this approach? What's the climb over Whatcom like?

Thanks for the reply. My objestive is E.Wilmans peak so it sounds like wilmans gap is the best way to go. What is the best way to get to the gap from the basin. It seems there should be a way past Ray's knoll, what do you think?

Thanks for the input. I climbed foggy peak that same weekend. According to Fred's alpine guide you can get to wilmans gap from the basin but His discription is a bit vague. The gully you mention is the one to the E. willmans spire I believe. What is the traverse like on the otherside over to the wilman peaks?

Anyone been or tried going up the 76 trail out of Monte Cristo? I would like to explore this way to get to the wilmans peaks. Is going through glacier basin a better Route.If so which is the best way to gain Wilmans gap.
