I was there yesterday. There was more snow than I expected. 6 - 8 inch ruts the majority of the way in. I don't think a 2WD or low clearance AWD would have much success.

I've skied it, but don't know about the current conditions.

Trying to find out some information about the snow quality and quantity on Diamond Peak. In otherwords, is it worth skiing?

I was up there the same day. A GPS was very handy (but not completly neccessary) in the trees but once the summit was in view it's was pretty easy to pick a ridge. The ski down was excellent.
