I went up there yesterday to attempt to get some turns in. I was able to skin from the parking lot (barely). It was raining and with the freezing level around 9k today I am sure most of the snow has melted away for the most part until you get up to pan point. Freezing level should drop down to about 6K tomorrow though.

I have the Coomba mounted with Fritschi's I used about 20 times last year. They ski and tour well I have no complaints. They aren’t too heavy when strapped to the pack either.
I have not skied the others but you might want to also look at the Dynastar Legend Pro XXL. It is 109 under foot and you could get a great deal online for last years model. I think they retail for $1000 but can get them for just over $550. The 187's might be a little hard to find b/c standard length is 194.

I have never climbed there and would love to. I have some time off work this week and the weather looks great. If you want to get out PM me.
I also live in North Bend, so local sport or alpine is also an option.

People that have never climbed cracks before should not be on RnD.
RnD was my first trad and crack MP lead. It is a great place to learn and should not be altered.

I have not been there this year either but I can not think of a place where the road traffic noise could be any worse.

Black Diamond Crossbow 171 with small Fritschi Freeride bindings. A few years old but not skied much. (15-20 times) Mounted once with Dynafit bindings. There are some topsheet scuffs but bases are good. Cut to fit BD Ascension skins included. $400

I doubt anyone serving who read it would accept you apology. I didn’t sign up for this war/occupation but I did for the first one in ‘91. Do you feel I was an idiot for doing that and if so why? You seem to say a lot of stupid things in an attempt to get your point across. I wonder if you would have said the same if you were face to face to one of them?

I used them once for a road trip to JH last winter. It fit our Subaru that we no longer own. In new condition and were only on the car for the trip. Selling for $75. PM if interested. I can provide pics if needed. Link below.

I have 2 dogs I love very much and would never take them to the crag. It is not an activity that a dog and owner can participate in together. Go running or hiking so you are always there with your dog and can control their actions. Taking a dog to the crag is distracting to fellow climbers. Many people are scared of dogs and others allergic. So why prevent others from having a good time?

We wanted to stay out of the lower part b/c it is a terrain trap and tried to play it as safe as possible. The upper ½ you have no choice but things were more solid.
I guess the other side has seen a ton of traffic lately. Didn’t see any sign on the south side other than an old ski track following Ingalls Creek. I am sure that will change in the next few weeks.

Trip: Mt. Stuart - Ulrich's Couloir
Date: 4/27/2008
Trip Report:
Kendall Stever, Aaron Benevich and I skied Ulrich’s Couloir on Mt Stuart. We used snowmobiles from where the pavement ends to about ¼ mile past the summer trail head/parking lot. From there we toured up to Long’s Pass, removed our skins and skied down to Ingalls Creek at around 4800’. We put the skins back on and made it to around 6400’ before trading the skis for crampons. Thousands of kick steps later we arrived at the summit.
We didn’t encounter any major navigation issues on the way up. We did have to do a short downward traverse at one point. Looking up as we climbed it sure felt as though it wouldn’t go because of the way the route zigzagged. I felt much better once we got a clean view of the summit.
The ski off the summit was a bit icy and steep but manageable. Snow conditions were just about everything from icy off the top to glop near the bottom. We did manage to let loose a few wet slides on the way down but they were not very significant.
In all we made it from car to car in just less than 12 hours and some cold beer waiting. Best one I have had in awhile!

Your question is hard to answer. What are you looking to do? Are you lift or touring? What do you consider “decent conditions”? I suggest you go to a ski shop and demo some skis and decide what works for you. It is much better than taking suggestions from people who have no idea what type/style skier you are. Don’t forget about boots. They are can be more of a factor in performance than the skis.
BTW I use skis from 76 to 102 underfoot depending on the conditions. Just one ski can’t do it all, but if I were to just have one, it would be around 88.

Weather looked great. Much better than the Snoqualmie Pass death fog at times over the weekend. Glad you got some good turns in.

Went for a tour up to Alaska Peak with Adam and came across the massive Alta Peak slide from last month. I have never see an avalanche do this much damage. It crossed the valley, covered Gold Creek and took out trees up hill on the other side of the valley. I thought I would share because it is very impressive.

Back to the problem...
I have done many tours with twin tips. I have no problems if the tension is adjusted correctly. If a problem occurs with or with out twin tips just use a ski strap. I always bring a few just in case.
The ski shop who fit these skins f**ked up and didn’t account for the big tips (loops were too small). Straps saved the tour. I know these are on the front but it works much better in the back.
BTW I no longer tour with a twin tip.

I heard the park was closed due to flooding today. Also, due to 6" of snow they got Monday night / Tuesday morning it took them until 11:30am to open the gate Tuesday.
