  1. Welcome to Seattle. I am new here myself, moved in September. I don't know how steep is steep for you, but two couloirs come to mind: the Crooked and the Slot. Both are on the backside of Snoqualmie Mountain and are easily accessed from the Alpental parking lot. The Slot is about 1200 vf and 35 - 40+ degrees, and is one of the most picturesque ski runs I can imagine. The Crooked is somewhat shorter but actually steeper in it's crux. Also, watch out for the bergshrund. Both are well described in Martin Volken's guide to touring in Snoqualmie Pass. I would also recommend checking out www.turnsallyear.com if you haven't already.
  2. i am new to the seattle area, have been living in portland for the past six years, and am facing an unfortunate dilemma: i need to find work. i am a competent finish carpenter who would prefer to remain self-employed, however that--the finish part as well as the self-employed part--may yield to some flexibility as my belly begins to ache. if anybody has any leads or ideas please let me know. oh yeah, i am also a quick learning, though inexperienced, intermediate rock climber (i believe Crackman can vouch for that) looking for partners. later.
