If you like death routes, Peshastin is the place for you. There are only a handful of leads there that are safe. That's a shame, but it does explain why it is a newbie toprope mecca.

I'd have to say that a shock is quite a bit more compassionate than a bullet. They'll get over the shock, but perhaps not the bullet.

Practiced leader rescue in an ancient barn. Did the full Five Step Process from Fasulo. Made lots of mistakes, none fatal. Learned I need to practice a lot more to become proficient.

Looks like you've gone all native, Luke. Nice smile.

You can't fault an attorney for doing his job well. We have adversarial justice system, like it or not. Lawyers can't decide one client deserves acquittal and others do not. He must fight hard for every client (even if he's guilty as sin, like OJ).

Yeah, the folks at the Zoo had to figure it out because no one had ever called before asking for Mr. Lyon.
-
One of the guys at my company sent out an e-mail saying that our secretary had called him to remind everyone that they were restriping the parking lot in front and to move their cars to the back lot. A bunch of people fell for it, but not me because I always park in the back anyway (but I might have fallen for it otherwise).

Actually, the nutrients you could be referring to, such as potassium and phosphate would be left from the process could be turned into fertilizer. Nitrates may or may not be lost depending on the process.I was thinking more of stalks and hulls and twigs and weeds and coffee husks and grounds and stuff. Even wood waste from pulp mills. Cow shit. That kinda thing. Like what the Ukranians and Russian home brewers make vodka out of.Let's not forget that unlike hydrocarbons from the ground, the CO2 from biomass is already part of the atmospheric carbon cycle... burning it as ethanol isn't going to raise atmospheric carbon any higher than letting it rot would.
So what is the down side?
If you leave the stalks etc to rot, then nutrients are returned to the soil. If you haul them away, and process them to make ethanol, how will the soil retain its nutrients.

Without an autopsy, the conspiracy theorists would have a ready source of income writing books about how Terri was actually in a drug induced state and was murdered. Blah, blah, blah. The books will be written regardless.
-
The husband said he will have an autopsy to prove the extent of Terri's brain injury. It won't change anyone's minds one iota. You watch.

Doh! Honey, that was wonderful, but I've got some bad news. I went and left my "faucet" in the open position. One potential solution to the permanence of sterility would be conjunctive reproductive analysis based on the physical condition of the subject. Efforts to overcome the irreversibility of vasectomy have also led to experimentation with the implantation of faucetlike devices that can be made to open or close the sperm duct in a simple operation. Such devices have functioned successfully in animals but are still considered experimental in humans because of their unproved reversibility, high cost, and the degree of surgical skill needed to implant them. Should sufficient strides be made in this field, it could be monumental in the motivational efforts of the medical community to bring clinically obese people to a sufficient level of fitness by rewarding such people with permission to procreate and switching on the control valves implanted in the subject.(From that article above.)
LOL.

We used to tie them around a tennis ball. For cragging, you'd want something harder as the core.

His most famous line, "If the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit".

I know what that knot is. It is called a Monkey Fist and it is used as a weight for throwing lines between ships, etc.
-
Yes, but I am a knot junkie. I can't get enough of knots.
-
A butterfly knot is used on the bight. It is not used to join two ropes, although in theory, it could. I suspect that it is prone to slipping if tension is repetitively applied and released. On the bight, it's no big deal if it slips (one use of the butterfly is to isolate damaged sections of rope).why dont you use a butterfly? that knot seems designed for the type of tension.A butterfly would go over edges better than a standard double fisherman but not as well as an EDK or a flat double fisherman. Try it.
-
That flat double fisherman knot is a new one on me. I tied it and I don't see any reason why it would not work. I appears that, like the EDK, it needs to be carefully cinched. It will not self-tighten in the same way the conventional double fisherman will. The knot would have the same ability as the EDK to rotate away from edges. I'd prefer to see actual test data before using it to rappel though.
-
Sounds like a spoof to me.
-
Let me get this straight. Are you saying that a double fisherman might not have been stuck in this instance? Or simply that any knot could have stuck- that the EDK isn't isn't a panacea against stuck ropes?

I think Dru is right.

Sure biodiesel is clean, but there is a limit to how much waste vegetable oil can be produced by MacDonalds and Burger King.

Gas prices have gone from $1.50 to $2.15 in the space of a couple years. That's about 40%. You ain't seen nothing yet. Right now it like a pinch. Soon it will feel like a bite.

Bee careful

That would definitely do the trick!

If you can keep it open until about 10 pm, that should be good enough for most folks.
The Most Comfortable Harness w/o Regard to Weight
in The Gear Critic
Posted
I'm interested in a super comfy harness for use in teaching or rescue practice, where I am hanging for long periods. I don't care how much it weighs. It doesn't need lots of clever features and affordable would be nice. What would you recommend?
