  1. Nice write up Donn! Thanks again for putting the climb together. I don't want to hear anymore that you are "getting too old for this sh!t."
  2. I was in the party ahead of you that backed off the ridge and took the gully. Definitely bring pickets if you plan to climb the summit pinnacle. Like crackman said, a second tool would have been nice too. You will need the pickets for anchors. Still lots of snow up there! No rock protection needed. (you can't see much rock yet) Crackman, did you guys decend the North Ridge?
  3. Ipsut Creek was open. You can hike up the Carbon River, access Curtis Ridge, and drop onto the Carbon at 7200 ft. We left a car at Paradise so that we wouldn't have to back-track on the way out.
  4. We were on Liberty Ridge the weekend of May 12th. The Carbon goes, but the route we took accessed the ridge on the west side, not the east side as shown in most of the guide books. Got as high as Thumb Rock, then awoke to windy conditions and fresh snow, so made a retreat. Like Mike said, it looked really icy above Thumb Rock, but we talked to a couple of guys who had climbed it the previous Thursday, and they said it was solid.
