  1. Hi Aidan, I know how you feel. It gets even lonelier in Olympia. Its about time all the south sound climbers stand up and be heard!
  2. I own a pair of lhotses and I have been very happy with them. I have a wide foot and with a low arch. I have been very comfortable with them. They are very warm for leather boots, I used them in the canadian rockies this winter and climbed verticle ice, and was on Mt Hood this winter and my feet only got a little cold when there was a prolonged period of inactivity. For the approach, they are very comfortable, these are the only boots I ever owned which did not give me blisters with break-in. I have not used them for any multiday trips yet, but wouldnt hesitate. I dont plan to use my plastic boots again!
  3. Thanks Tom, Ill let you know how things go. Full report to follow!
  4. We are planning to climb Mt Adams, by the Adams Glacier route next week. Does anyone have any Beta on the route conditions and approach condition? Is the road open yet to the Killien creek trailhead? I would be very appreciative for any info

    Greed

Climbing is no ones personal domain, and no one has any special rights to claim such. As climbing becomes more popular and routes more crowded, we as a community of climbers, are responsible for maintaining a strict ethic and passing that ethic to anyone we may mentor. Climbers as a whole respect this as a code of conduct and honor reguardless of our goals. With that in mind, we respect eachother no matter our ability level, age, gender, ect. If isolation is an issue, with some extra effort there are many places which you can find yourself the only human in sight. Sometimes thats good, sometimes not. We all put ourselves in harms way, and when trouble comes then we become truely indebted to those who help. On the other hand, my fondest memories were climbing in remote ares in Alaska, with nothing but the sound of crunching snow underfoot, and spectacular scenery, without evidence that humans ever existed. The botton line is the good old days exist even now, it all depends on how we make them!
  6. Skis are a big plus especially on the way down! Crampons may be needed as well as an alpine axe. However, You dont need to lug a rope. The trip can easily be done in one day, I like two days because I find the lunch counter a beautiful spot to camp and enjoy the views tremendously. There are plenty of windbreaks there as well. Its not technically challenging by any means, but its a fun trip which I never get tired of doing. Good luck and have fun!
  7. I bought a pair of La Sportiva Lotse Boots last year and I have nothing but praise for these boots. Zero break in, very comfortable, water proof from a Gortex liner, and insulated. I have used them on verticle ice with ridgid crampons in the Canadian Rockies and they performed great. I have been on very cold alpine routes with my toes only getting a little cold after a period of inactivity. I no Longer use my plastic boots. I recomend them highly but of course try on many boots. If you can get away with it, try them out in varied terrain before committing yourself to to a long alpine route and torturing yourself the entire time. Especially since its much harder to return them with any appearent wear to them.

    Boots

I purchased a pair of La Sportiva Lhotse boots last year. This has been the best investment in boots I have ever made. There was zero break in time. These have been the only boots which did not give me a single blister. I used them in mixed terrain to include waterfall ice in Canada and they performed flawlessly. They are insulated with a gortex liner which makes then warm and waterproof. I will never go back to plastic boot again. (as a matter of fact I have a pair for sale for anyone interested) Happy trails
  10. I have a pair of Asolo AFS expedition boots size 7.5 mens for sale. They are in excellent condition. These are a great high end alpine and ice boot. They are a double plastic boot, very warm in extreme conditions. I am asking $100.00. They have only been used one climbing season. email me at heartdoc_901@yahoo.com or call at 360-570-9107
  11. Has anyone skied St Helens this year? Is it worth the trip? Did not have a chance to ski as much as I liked and would be open for suggestions. Thanks
  12. Hi, Do you still have you sold the AT gear yet? If not I may be interested.
