The Women’s Adventure Film Tour will present a thrilling selection of films that span extreme sports, personal journeys, and boundary-pushing storytelling from across the globe.
This year’s program highlights the resilience and creativity of individuals navigating the challenges of both the outer world and their own inner landscapes. We are thrilled to present a program that brings together incredible stories of courage, adventure, and self-discovery. These films represent the spirit of perseverance and the power of women in the outdoors to inspire, entertain, and spark important conversations.
FEATURED FILMS:
This year’s lineup includes a diverse range of films that explore the physical, emotional, and personal journeys of athletes and adventurers. Sliding takes audiences into the high-speed world of skeleton sledding, capturing the intense precision and adrenaline of the sport. Cycling the World follows one woman’s multi-year journey across five continents, 28 countries, and 29,000 kilometers, offering a powerful reflection on both the outer adventure and inner transformation. It Will Be Different For You is a portrait of Olympian Lea Davison, who reflects on her lifelong relationship with mountain biking and the personal trials and triumphs that have shaped her path. In Above Sinai , Egyptian kiteboarder Sarah Sadek defies cultural expectations and empowers her community, challenging norms while embracing her love of the sport. Finally, Drawn In tells the story of Jessa Gilbert, a backcountry guide and visual artist, whose creative process intertwines the exploration of glaciated terrain with the art of painting, revealing the shared spirit of adventure and creativity in both pursuits.

CLIMBING FILM TOUR is back for its 5th season with an awesome selection of short films celebrating the global climbing community.
Climbing Film Tour is a unique platform for climbers and filmmakers around the world to share their stories with the community. Each year, films are submitted and selected by our Vertical Life climbing team to go on tour with screenings in hundreds of gyms, and cinemas. Join us for a journey around the world.
This season, we’ll follow Ian Elliott, a 72-year-old Australian rock climber defying age stereotypes as he ascends a grade 28/7c route just before his 70th birthday. Kai Lightner, a 12-time national climbing champion, against the backdrop of Jamaica and their emerging climbing community. Meet up with Freya, Leo Houlding’s daughter, who uses climbing as a practice to lean into discomfort and fear to help navigate her neurodiversity and harness its strengths. You’ll be on the edge of your seat in Cedar Wright’s film “Dropping Molly”, following Molly Mitchell’s Roller Coaster Journey to climb “Crank-It”, one of Colorado’s most dangerous routes. We’ll take you north to the ephemeral Scottish land of mixed climbing with Fay and Line and then meet up with Québécois/ Australian Jacques Beaudoin climber and the effort behind a hard trad first ascent up a thin crack in The Gardens of Stone Conservation Area of Newnes Plateau, NSW, Australia. And then, well, a film about Jackson Marvell.

Famed Mountaineer Fred Beckey first travelled to the Himalaya in 1955 as a member of the International Himalayan Expedition.
Their objective: To make the first ascent of Lhotse, a part of the Everest massif. At 27,940 feet, this is the fourth highest mountain in the world.
Over the next nearly-sixty years Fred made multiple trips back to the Himalaya.
His interests were in finding unclimbed peaks, establishing new routes on previously climbed peaks, trekking untrodden, remote mountain valleys, and the study and exploration of sub-ranges of various Asian Mountains and the Himals.
This short evening lecture will focus on the goals of the Lhotse Expedition, and analyse controversies that arose with this climb, and resultant outcomes.
Time permitting, the detail and objectives of subsequent trips will also be discussed, and include the ambitious plans of what had been Fred Beckey's most recent Himalayan objective, which would have been to travel next year (2018), to a remote valley in the Garhwal of Northern India.
Fred Beckey recently died at age ninety-four. He lived a life that centered on mountains, climbing, scholarship, research and creating a legacy that will endure for generations to come.
The speaker, Megan E. Bond, is also Fred Beckey's biographer and will read excerpts from her writings, which will be published by Mountaineers Books.
Over the course of a decade, she and Fred made multiple exploratory trips together to Nepal, India, China and Tibet.

LIVING NORTHWEST HISTORY: REFLECTIONS ON THE PAST AND FUTURE OF NORTHWEST MOUNTAINEERING
The Pacific Northwest has a rich heritage of mountain exploration, activism, literature, and art. Lowell Skoog was introduced to this heritage as a Seattle youngster more than 50 years ago. In this multimedia presentation, Lowell will discuss how the threads of history continue to weave through the Northwest outdoor community to create a present that is just as rich and inspiring as our storied past.
As a skier, climber, flyer, writer and photographer, Lowell has been a participant and keen observer of Northwest mountaineering since the 1960s. He is the creator of the Alpenglow Gallery and founder of the Northwest Mountaineering Journal, websites that celebrate local mountain culture. He was a key member of the team that launched the Washington State Ski and Snowboard Museum in 2015. For over a decade he has been a member and is now chairman of the Mountaineers History and Library committee, a group of volunteers that works to preserve and share our living history.
