Edwin Karlsson is the 6th best Timbersports® player in the world

On Friday, May 27, the international season of TIMBERSPORTS started with the World Rookie Championship and the International Women's Cup. As on this web page states, this is one of the many popular sports in Sweden - get fans there. Swedish rookie Edwin Karlsson made a spectacular debut at the World Championships and finished in sixth place, as well as two personal bests and a Scandinavian record. Sweden's Tove Njostad made her international debut at the International Women's Cup.

The competition, which took place at the Rathausplatz in Vienna, drew busy athletes on Friday and drew a total of around 4,500 enthusiastic spectators. Thirteen of the best rookie athletes in the world, including 22-year-old Swedish athlete Edwin Karlsson from Orsa, have joined the World Rookie Championships corresponding to the junior class. Edwin Karlsson started his racing career in 2019 and three years later on a Friday he took part in his very first World Championship.

After two fierce runs, Edwin was in eighth place, but after a world record of 10.78 seconds in the Single Buck event, which was later broken by Oliver Reinhard of Switzerland, he moved up to sixth. The performance lasted until the final round, with the Springboard final branch resulting in both a personal best and a Nordic record. According to the results of the competition, Edwin Karlsson was recognized as the sixth best rookie athlete in the world.

  - Today was very good. I spent a lot of time, so it's no coincidence that everything went well. I feel very satisfied and performed as I wanted,” says Edwin Karlsson and continues:

- It was tough competition, and in the first sections I felt that I would “smoke soon” - but I managed to hold on, I am very pleased with my position, especially among these guys. I will continue to put in a lot of time, I just want to get better and better and above all maintain a higher, more even level.

First place in the World Rookie Championship went to 24-year-old Jack Argent from Australia, followed by Oliver Reinhard from Switzerland and Poland's Szymon Groenwald. Why land-based casinos are taking a more sustainable path, see this website.

Another debut among Swedish athletes

Earlier on Friday, 26-year-old Swedish athlete Tove Njostad also made her international debut. In the three disciplines of Stock Saw, Single Buck and Underhand Chop, she challenged the female elite and placed seventh out of nine competitors.

- It was a lot of fun to participate in the competitions, and after them I have a good feeling - I am satisfied and proud of my efforts. I went on stage, focused on one thing, released each branch as soon as I finished, and immediately began to prepare for the next one, says Tove Njostad.

On the Stock Saw legs, she set the second best time, but in the last two legs, Tove exceeded the approved time limit and was thus disqualified from them. The gold medal was taken home by 32-year-old American Martha King, who already holds several national and international championship titles. Now we are waiting for new competitions, and already on the weekend of June 3-4, the time will come again for both Edwin Karlsson and Tove Njostad.
