What is androgenetic alopecia, how to distinguish it from telogen? Causes and symptoms

Recommended Posts

Baldness is a very serious problem for many people. Hair loss is considered a cosmetic defect. What are the symptoms of androgenic alopecia and how to distinguish them from telogen? What can you do to speed up hair growth?
Androgenic alopecia is associated mainly with men, but also affects women. Hair loss in this case is associated with the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone. It affects the androgen receptors of the hair follicle and leads to its gradual disappearance. Over time, the resulting hair becomes thinner and shorter.
The disease affects men more often, especially if cases of androgenic alopecia are also observed in their family.
Symptoms of androgenic alopecia
With androgenic alopecia in men, hair loss is relatively characteristic. At the beginning (even at the age of 20 to 30 years) they usually begin to be absent in the upper part of the head and in the frontal-temporal region (the so-called receding hairline).
In women, androgenic alopecia most often begins during menopause. It is more difficult to diagnose and is often mistaken for telogen alopecia, because the hair gradually falls out over the entire surface of the head.
When is telogenetic alopecia diagnosed?
Hair goes through a development cycle. It consists of three phases: growth (anagen), involution (catagen) and rest (telogen). The first is the longest and lasts up to 6 years, the second covers a period of several days to several weeks, then cell division stops and the hair stops growing. The last phase is the resting phase of the hair, in which the hair falls out, and new ones begin to grow in their place. This process, usually associated only with the moment of hair follicle release, can take up to 2-4 months.
How is telogenic alopecia treated?
The basis of therapy in the case of telogen baldness is to strengthen the hair follicles and restore the structure of the hair.
Proper hair care is very important. The hair should not be overheated by the dryer or too hot water, it is necessary to avoid twitching and excessive sticking. They need extra support to be strong and flexible. Therefore, it is recommended to use specialized shampoos.
The problem of baldness is quite complicated. This can be caused by many different factors, from hormonal disorders to poor scalp care. Fortunately, there are many methods that positively affect the volume of our hairstyle. It's worth using them. betting 24
