johnr9q@yahoo.com Posted October 5, 2001 Posted October 5, 2001 I have been climbing for a long time and have compiled alot of information, that is not in the guidebooks, on routes I have done. I am considering developing a website that would make this info available free to anyone. I would want help from other climbers to provide me with route information on routes I have not done. My specific experience is all over Calif but the site could include the entire US if I got help. It would be in a narrative format and address issues such as: alternate choices on the route, what's the specific nature of climbing on each section of the route (bolted sport, friction, crack etc), the quality of the bolts or fixed pro on routes that have installed pro, the length of the route and each pitch, rapelling info and the quality of the rappel anchors, how to find the route, quality of the route, sun exposure, some specific pro placement suggestions. It would be a narrative that would start at the bottom of the route and describe all aspects of the route to the top. A couple questions: Are there others that have already done this? Anyone have specific ideas or if something like this would be useful. Please post here or email me at johnr9q@yahoo.com, Thanks Post a follow-up to this message Quote
Drederek Posted October 5, 2001 Posted October 5, 2001 A large part of climbing is the adventure. Why do you want to take more out of it? Maybe you can climb these routes for me and tell me what a good time I had! I think your idea is not that good. If you want to do some service work for climbers join the access fund or organize a crag cleanup or a trail rebuild. Just my two cents. Quote
