Vector HR Display and Watch Frozen

My Vector HR display and watch has stopped working. By "stopped working" I mean that the display still shows the time when the watch stopped working but the watch is unresponsive. I can push any of the buttons or even hold the backlight button down and I get no response. This is the second time this has happened. I purchased the watch in September 2010. The first time this happened was July 3, 2015. I removed the existing battery and installed a new and fresh battery and this cleared the display and the watch started working again with no issues. The watch malfunctioned a second time this past weekend (November 15, 2015).

 

Has anyone seen this issue before?

In case anyone cares, this is the response I received from Suunto Service:

 

There has been leakage to your wristop. This has caused non repairable damage to the motherboard. This leakage is caused due to a dirty o ring and is considered physical damage. Physical damage is not covered under warranty. The only option is replacement.
