highthunder Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I'm out here for a couple weeks on business, and with the weather starting to looking glorious for this weekend... Hoping to take the more interesting forest road 23 to the south side trailhead(which according to the forest service is open)... think I can get away with a basic economy car, or is an SUV necessary? Route as shown: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Seattle,+WA/46.1322493,-121.5059234/@46.6195265,-121.7810898,9z/data=!4m10!4m9!1m5!1m1!1s0x5490102c93e83355:0x102565466944d59a!2m2!1d-122.3320708!2d47.6062095!1m0!3e0!5i2 Thanks! caverpilot Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 8040 from Trout Lake is passable by an economy car, just make sure you get the insurance! (Road is rough but easily do-able in a 2WD) I can't speak for the road from Randle to Trout Lake, however. At least some of it is paved... Quote
