GLD Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I'm looking for a local partner for my girlfriend and myself on June 14 and 15th. We are flying into Seatac the evening of the 13th and can drive to a trailhead that night, I have to be at work Monday morning for required training down in Renton. I'm from CO so I am unfamiliar with the local rock types/quality, the snowpack, etc.; hence my request for a partner. I would be happy to return the favor if you are in the Colorado front range sometime. I would also be happy to trade the good company and a few beers too! I'm looking for mostly day climbs grade III or IV and route suggestions based on the following would also be greatly appreciated. I’d like to get on something with some technical merit, but really would be happy just getting out into the mountains around there. I can lead WI3 ice (not really happy about long sections of vertical ice) and can lead M3/4 (WI3- and M2/M3 when doing it in ski boots). I can also lead 5.9 rock/alpine trad but that is slightly dependent on the area and the rock so I would be more conservative in an unknown area and say 5.8. I can second a lot harder than that. (mental difficulties obviously) Ideally, we could bring skis for the approach and exit but my girlfriend is a boarder so we will have to ditch that idea. We practiced crevasse rescue 2 weekends ago as well as a few basic rescue techniques like passing knots on raises and lower. She can also second most things I can lead and she knows how to jug a rope if she can’t. Thanks, Gareth Quote
