123tom Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Trip: Donner Peak - Donner summit headwall above train tracks Date: 5/5/2012 Trip Report: Headed out to Donner the other night to see if the temps were low enough to freeze the snow and possibly encounter some ice. I was pleasantly surprised to find nice hard neve and some small sections of ice later in the evening around 12. We took a direct route up the face and weaved left near the summit. All in all an awesome climb with an awesome moon. Not the coolest climb but you got to take what you can get in Tahoe at this time of the year. My camera broke so no good pictures to show sorry. Anyone else out there do any tahoe alpine climbs? Looking for partners... Gear Notes: crampons, 1 or 2 tools, 2 pickets (36'), 4 small cams and half set of nuts, helmet. Approach Notes: from snowshed wall traverse train tracks till you find your desired line up. Quote
