Hey everybody,

I’m looking for a climbing partner(s) to climb Mt. Hood, and I was told this is a good place to ask, so I thought I’d give it a try. I live in Portland and I’m pretty open as to when exactly we’d go. I’m hoping to do the climb sometime in late May (pretty soon, I know), though I could go earlier or later if needed.

I’ve never been up it before, so ideally I’d like to go with someone who’s climbed the south route before and knows the mountain. As for myself, I’m fairly new to the NW and don’t really have any experience climbing glaciated peaks. However, I have been a lifelong outdoor enthusiast, and have considerable experience hiking, backpacking, vertical caving, and climbing, all of which I think provide excellent transferable skills for mountaineering. I also have skied and boarded for twenty years, including climbing back hills, so I know snow and ice well. And I’ve hiked and climbed around on lower stretches of the west glaciers. My point is, although I don’t have any direct peak experience, I feel well-prepared and competent for a climb like this.

I’m a responsible and reliable outdoor companion. I’m out there to have a good time and enjoy the wilderness. But I’m also careful and safety-minded, and I want to go with others who are too. Making the peak is awesome, but enjoying the trip and getting home safe are primary concerns.

Anyway, I would love to hear from any climbers looking for partners, or who would be willing to let me join their party. Go ahead and send me a message!

Jason

I'm in a similar boat as you. I'll be venturing out from CO in mid-May to go for a Hood climb and though I don't have direct experience on the mountain, I've got some good practice/preparation in the snow on some of the mountains here. I'd prefer a climbing partner as well, but I've never climbed Hood before either.
