KristinK Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Hi all, Some friends and I are planning our first trip up MSH this Sunday June 5th. We would appreciate any advice on trail conditions, need for crampons/snowshoes, avalanche danger, length of trip, etc. THANK YOU! Quote
BirdDog Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 4 1/2 - 5 1/2 hours up,if you're in decent shape. Freezing levels are going from 5K this week to 10K on Sat. Leave early, like 4am or before. Avi danger will probably be considerable given the warming weather. Crampons may be useful/needed, don't know about snowshoes; but I'd bring both. Quote
ChuckC Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Was up there the weekend before last. Bring snowshoes or you'll be postholing for a long time. Snow was still to the parking lot but may have some small breaks here and there now. Lots of snow above the trees. Some of the snow banks along the gully sides were peeling away from the rock so you may want to pay attention if your route takes you through one of those spots. Quote
cmore Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 How was your trip? We are doing our first trip this Sunday, June 12 and would love some more info on current conditions. Thanks! Quote
