climbing in alaska May 2011

Hi, my name is Kim. Im from Tasmania, Australia. Im planning a six month climbing holiday to the US and Canada this summer.I fly in on the 3rd of May and was hoping to fit in a trip into the Alaska Range during that month. I was thinking either some climbing in the Ruth Gorge or a trip to Denali. This is my first trip to Alaska so looking for "easier" routes to try and limit the severity of the humbling I am sure I will recieve. This website was recommended to me by a good friend from Petersburg so I thought I'd look here for partners.

My Background:

Being an Australian I have climbed alot more rock than ice. Last year I spent five months climbing in the french, swiss and italian alps predominantly around chamonix with routes up to alpine grade ED. I also have experience on mountains up to 6200m high in the himalaya but they were not technical difficult. Lead trad rock routes around aus grade 19-20 (I think is about 5.10b or so?) and ice at around scottish winter 4 (not sure how that converts). for the last five years Ive worked in Tasmania as trekking guide on remote trips so used to long expeditions, big packs, discomfort etc. Can give you a more detalied climbing resume if you would like.

If you're interested let me know

I dont know if i'll be able to afford a trip up to alaska, but for the rest of the 6 months where are you going to be climbing? I am from the seattle area and will be looking for partners this summer. You and i seem to be at a similar level as far as climbing ability is concerned so if your in the area and are interested in any of the cascade volcanoes or north cascades i'm sure we could work something out.
