Fusion mods

I got a helluva deal on a pair of the old Fusions this fall, but I would like to figure out some way to attach some umbilicals at the grip. I got a look at the new Fusions at the Portland Ice Fest a while ago. I thought I might get lucky and be able to swap the endcaps and get the new one with the spike, but BD changed the shape of the core from rectangular to triangular.

 

So has anyone out there done any modding to the old Fusions? Any ideas out there?
