DC route conditions?

I was wondering if any of you have any information about the condition of the DC route from Camp Muir? We are planning on an attempt next week, and would like to know how it's been? Also, are plastic boots needed, or can I get by with leathers?

I usually climb Rainier in plastic AT ski boots, but this time I used my lightweight mountaineering boots, the La Sportiva Trango S EVO GTX, a leather/fabric combo which was more than adequate given the fair weather and warm temps.
