We have upgraded to new forum software as of late last year, and it makes everything here so much better!  It is now much easier to do pretty much anything, including write Trip Reports, sell gear, schedule climbing related events, and more. There is a new reputation system that allows for positive contributors to be recognized,  it is possible to tag content with identifiers, drag and drop in images, and it is much easier to embed multimedia content from Youtube, Vimeo, and more.  In all, the site is much more user friendly, bug free, and feature rich!   Whether you're a new user or a grizzled cascadeclimbers.com veteran, we think you'll love the new forums. Enjoy!

A slide show/lecture by Mountain Travel Sobek Guide, Cathy Ann Taylor

Where: The North Face, 1202 NW Davis St., Portland (503)727-0200

There is something special about the Himalaya that speaks of adventure, of mystical religions, exotic peoples, and the power of the mountains. This Wednesday, expert guide Cathy Ann Taylor will take you on a visual journey through the picturesque kingdoms of Bhutan, Nepal and Tibet - amazing countries with temples, monasteries, commanding mountain views, and cultures that have barely changed over the centuries. Each country offers its own attractions but all of them are a trekker's dream. The experience of hiking through primeval forested valleys and enchanting desolate plateaus and passing ancient villages and temples can be life-changing or merely amazing, and you will want to go back for more. Mountain Travel Sobek has pioneered trekking in the Himalaya since the late 1960's and were the first to operate trips in Nepal, Tibet, and Bhutan when they opened their doors to tourism in the following years.
