I live in Mexico part of the year. Mexico has some pretty impressive mountains, including Pico de Orizaba at 18,000+ ft.

I'm an ex back country skier and I can put on a pair of crampons, in pretty good shape, but I am no world class climber and maybe I don't belong on this forum...but...

I would like a partner to help motivate me to climb Pico de Orizaba. Oct of 08 would be a good time. I speak Spanish and could do some research down here. Meet you at the airport, get you to the mountain, etc.

In exchange, you could guide me up Mt Rainier this summer! I've climbed Hood, the Three Sisters, Mt Adams and Mt Shasta (solo from the north sides, not the walk ups) but I am not a technical climber.

Mt Orizaba is not a technical climb, but would probably be a good climb for someone looking for a reasonably accessible high altitude experience. You know, before you sign on to one of those Himalaya expeditions. Your cost for a one week trip (say) to Mexico should be under 900.00, and you will need a vacation in October, right?

I live part time in Olympia and will be there this year late May through early October (when I am not out hiking!) Let me know if any of this sounds interesting... Thanks, Paul
