MountaineersClub Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Meet Jim Whittaker on Tuesday at Pike Place Starbucks Special guest baristas join Starbucks team all week in support of Pike Place Market Foundation To pay tribute to its roots and support the Pike Place Market’s Centennial Celebration week, Starbucks Coffee Company will host iconic Seattleite guest baristas at its Pike Place Market store, including Jim Whittaker, Sue Bird, Governor Gary Locke, John Curley and Patricia Barker. The guests are joining the Starbucks team to support the Market Foundation and its efforts to serve low income populations, the Market and downtown Seattle communities. Starbucks shares a longstanding history with the market, as it is the home to the Company’s first store, which opened in 1971 as Starbucks Coffee, Tea and Spices. Schedule: - Governor Gary Locke, Aug. 13, 12-1 pm - Jim Whittaker, Aug. 14, 12-2 pm - John Curley, Aug. 15, 11 am – 12 pm - Sue Bird, Aug. 16, 3-4 pm - Patricia Barker, Aug. 17, 12-2 pm Where: Pike Place Starbucks 1912 Pike Place, Seattle, WA 98101 Throughout Centennial Celebration week (August 10-17), $4 will be donated to the Foundation from the purchase of each bag of Pike Place Blend whole bean coffee (available in an 8.8 oz bag for $8.95). Funds will benefit continued outreach through the Market’s clinic, senior center, foodbank, childcare and preschool, and other existing programs.
