Eric Barnett Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 My name is Eric and I am looking for someone to climb Mt. Shasta with. I have some pretty extensive experience, but by no means am I pro. I would like to do an easy route. I'm hanging out in Smith right now but will be making my way down south in the next couple of days. Email me if anyone is interested. fivenineplus@gmail.com Quote
MountainFever Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Hi Eric, I'm Mike; will be climbing Shasta June 8-9 solo(as long as weather permits) to acclimatize for a single-day push on Hood immediately after. You are welcome to come along for that one as well. Both easy routes, not a pro either. Rainier last summer. Will be on vacation so no room for weather problems. Quote
Eric Barnett Posted May 18, 2007 Author Posted May 18, 2007 Hi Mike~ Thanks for getting back to me so soon. Unfortunately I’ll be at work by then, but thanks for the offer. I just got off Hood…perfect conditions! We did the south route (Hogsback) the bergstrund has barley opened…..maybe 10 inches. Both the Pearly Gates and the left shoot have been setting up nicely so if you decide to do the south route you should have a great climb. We didn’t put on crampons until right below the sulfur vent in the bowl below the Hogsback. We were getting perfect purchase with just plastics from the saddle (Illumination) to that point. Anyways, good luck. Eric~ Quote
MountainFever Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Thanks for the beta Eric. That's good stuff. Hope the weather holds out for a couple of more weeks. It's good to know the pearly gates aren't covered with rime. Looking forward to a good time. Again, thanks. Quote
