2007 Squamish Mountain Festival looking for the

world’s best mountain adventure films

(Squamish, BC – March 12, 2007) The Squamish Mountain Festival, SQUMF 2007, is looking for the world’s best mountain adventure films. Presented by Arc’teryx, SQUMF 2007 will be held July 13 to 21, 2007 in Squamish, BC.

SQUMF is looking for films that are cinematically spectacular and have a strong story line. They can be about any aspect of adventure in a mountain environment--be they the best, boldest and most daring climbs, rides, jumps and lives lived.

This is a competitive film festival with prizes awarded in four categories: Grand Prize, Best Film on Climbing, Best Film on Mountain Adventure, Best Canadian Mountain Film. More than 20 finalists will be screened over the festival week and over $2,000 CDN in cash and prizes will be awarded.

Film submissions will be accepted until Friday, May 18, 2007. Entry forms and information are available at http://www.squamishfilm.com

The Squamish Mountain Festival is the ultimate arena to showcase your film in front of an audience that truly understands and appreciates living the adventure. Situated in the “Outdoor Recreation Capital of Canada”, during the peak of the climbing season, it promises to be an enthusiastic crowd.

In 2006, capacity crowds enjoyed the Squamish Mountain Film Festival with local climbing legends Peter Croft and Sonnie Trotter and a dozen international mountain films. This year the film festival has partnered with the Squamish Climber’s Festival to bring an entire week of speakers, films, and presentations as well as competitions, clinics, trail runs, pancake breakfasts, yoga stretches and adopt-a-crag days. With some of the world’s top climbers in town to present and take in the climbing, it promises to be an exciting week!

SQUMF 2007 carries on the tradition of prior festivals in Squamish including the Climber’s Festivals (2006, 2001, and 1986), the Petzl Roc Trip (2005), and the Squamish Mountain Film Festival (2006). The Squamish Mountain Festival is presented by Arc’teryx, and sponsored by Black Diamond, Gripped Magazine, La Sportiva, Climbing Magazine, Maxim, Urban Climber and Mountain Equipment Co-op. All proceeds from the festival go to the Squamish Access Society and the Climbers Access Society of BC.
