Books for Nepal is a non-profit (501©3) organization dedicated to bringing literacy to Nepal’s children. To date, Books for Nepal has provided more than 30,000 books, built six schools with five more under construction, established 50 libraries, and funded more than 30 scholarships. Almost 100% of their donations go directly to the projects.

Nepal is one of the world’s poorest countries with a gross national product of less than $400 per person per year. The illiteracy rate among Nepalese males is 60%; and females is 86%. This cycle of poverty will be impossible to break without educating citizens and reducing the illiteracy rate. Building a school through Books for Nepal’s challenge grant program costs $2,500. The organization can add a library for $1,500 and guarantee a child’s education for $200 a year.
