Alpine_Tom Posted May 16, 2001 Posted May 16, 2001 From today's NPS Morning Report: A total of 1,319 climbers have registered to climb the peak so far this year; 130 climbers checked in last Friday alone. Geez, sounds like a July weekend on Rainier! Quote
Ron_R Posted May 16, 2001 Posted May 16, 2001 What is the site you are using to get the latest NPS stuff for Denali? Quote
Alpine_Tom Posted May 16, 2001 Author Posted May 16, 2001 This was from http://www.nps.gov/morningreport/ Someone posted a reference to it a few weeks ago here, and it makes for interesting browsing. For instance, there was a discussion from a few days ago about black bears in Yosemite breaking into cars, and ripping out the back seat to get into the trunk area! I'd always assumed that inside a locked car was a perfectly safe place to be. Quote
Jedi Posted May 17, 2001 Posted May 17, 2001 when camping at Camp 4, you will hear a window or 2 break EVERY night. When I was there in 97, there had been 250+ break-in's. Think about it, there are'nt many people there during the off season so most of it happens during the spring, summer and fall. They love toothpaste! Jedi Quote
W Posted May 17, 2001 Posted May 17, 2001 The best reports are always from places like Lake Mead, AZ- drunken redneck boaters crashing into each other and getting in fist fights, the meth and crank busts at Lake Powell, and then there's Great Smoky- drunken redneck mountain men terrorizing visitors.
