faust Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Headed down to WA for the holiday weekend. From the weather report, it looks like Vantage will be our only bet for dry rock. Is this guidebook still available in shops? I noticed it's listed as out-of-stock on the REI website. Thanks. Quote
TrogdortheBurninator Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Should be readily available in Seattle. Check Feathered Friends, 2nd Ascent, Pro Mountain Sports, or Stone Gardens. Maybe call ahead first so you waste less time. I think the gas station in Vantage might still have it too. Quote
FFCS Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 There are climbs harder than 5.9 at Vantage and Leavenworth? I thought they were all 5.9. It's amazing where a question about a guide book will go. Quote
Figger_Eight Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 Just got the word from Jim a little while ago that he's not reprinting them this summer and there will be an updated one coming out next year, so if a shop is out - they can't get any more. Quote
jmace Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 My only complaint is that it doesn't use a consistent ordering of routes. Sometimes it is left to right and other times it is right to left. Right to left requires that you flip a bunch of pages whenever you move from one named area to another. First time there this weekend and I totally agree, so confusing and in my opinion not very well done. Also what's up with the censored names..? So weak whats the problem with pubic hair or dildo? However its an amazing area and I had an awesome time and I was also impressed at how clean it was. pretty fun Quote

The only reason it's clean is because of the work of volunteers. If you want to help keep it that way, come out to help the next time Frenchman Coulee Climbers Coalition has a cleanup. It's usually on a Saturday. Quote
jmace Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 I noticed the names in the back of the book, still though.. Thats awsesome about the volunteers, thanks for the effort! Its a 5.5 hour drive for me so it will only be an occasional trip. Quote
