ckouba Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004 Up for grabs is my previous mobile base camp. I upgraded to a 4wd rig and this one has to go. Pictures: http://groups.msn.com/88FordE150ConversionVan/shoebox.msnw Details: 107,### miles Fuel injected 302 (v-8) AOD trans 4 capt chairs, fold down bench in back gets ~16-17MPG highway, 15 in town LOTS of storage space cruises comfortably, like driving your living room sleeps 3 in comfort, a 4th friend can also fit if they're short a/c equipped, but not charged (blows hot) there is a radio, but you'll likely want another... It was my main climbing wagon, but I wanted 4wd. It served me very well and never left me stranded. The drivetrain is bulletproof and the body is in nice condition. The paint is peeling off the roof (primer still holding though) and there is a small dent in the passenger fender. The pics above are after getting it out from under the trees from where it had sat all winter. Subsequently, I did pressure wash it and it cleaned up nicely. Not gonna win any shows, but a GREAT piece of gear for climbing nerds. I got in it for 5k, I'd like to get at least 3k back. Conversely, I am open to any serious offer. If you're interested, drop me a line at ckouba@hotmail.com as I tend to only check the forum email randomly. Let's make a deal! Chris Quote
ckouba Posted May 26, 2004 Author Posted May 26, 2004 Being a poverty-stricken student, Mike has confirmed that he is unable to afford the van, so I am here with a plan. What needs to happen is to start up a grass-roots fund-raising campaign with the goal of getting this vehicle to a climber in need. "Sure," you're saying to yourself. "What can I really do about it?" Well, the answer is simple. For a one-time donation of $30, it will bring the mobile base camp of his dreams one step closer to a needy climber. Feel free to donate more, or donate less. You can give til it hurts and then a little more if you feel compelled. Think about it, at $30 it amounts to less than a dollar a day over the course of a 31 day month. What would that extra dollar mean to you, compared to the happiness and joy it would bring to a climber? Think of all the good karma you'd be buying into. I am willing to deal to make this possible. It takes just 100 people to make this happen. When the Michael Layton Mobile Base Camp Fund nears its $3000 objective, I would be open to serious offers from them. I will even go so far as to take the first step: the price is now $2970. We just need 99 more people to pitch in $30! Think about the little difference YOU can make in the life of a climber! I feel so empowered already! Actually, I'll take offers from anyone else for that matter. Clearly though there is an interested party and he just needs a little green stuff (monetarily speaking, that is) to make his dreams come true. Actually, I hope Mike doesn't mind the humor. If you're still reading this, you're either really stupid and might pitch in the $30 or you're as bored as I am (read: stuck at work and have nothing better to do) so I got creative trying to generate interest in it. I assume the latter, but if it's the former you can drop me a line and I'll let you know where you can send the money. Seriously though, I am willing to deal, so please pass along the info or a link to this post to anyone who might be interested. I want to sell the van before I end up just giving it away as a tax write off. Chris Quote
