LMFAO That's one of the funniest things I've ever read.

 

And the alternative would be?

 

"It didn't catch my fall so I post from the afterlife" or

"It didn't catch my fall so I live in a wheel chair" or

"It didn't catch my fall so I got brain damage and am now so stupid that I still use it"

 

hmm... a whole thread in itself maybe.

 

I'd use a soloist or knots tied in to those "oh so dangerous" locking biners. Using an ascender sounds stupid to me. I realize the soloist is expensive and not as great as a belayer. They're heavy and awkward especially in wide cracks. But they work they're bomber and they're made for the job.
