I called the resort and they will open the lifts at 7 or 8am. Is the rock/ice fall too dangerous if we start skinning/climbing from the top of the lifts at 7:30 or 8:30am?

I am planning to ski up and down Mt Hood June 1st or 2nd. I was wondering if the lifts are still running to save a couple thousand feet of elevation gain at that time. If so, is it worth waiting until they open (9am?) or better to do an alpine start.

Two 24 inch snow pickets, used once, but have been carried to the top of Rainier, Baker, Hood, and Shasta. I live in Colorado now so these aren't getting used as they should.
